An unregistered seedling from Catrina Matel (Catrina's Garden) that we've taken to calling "Better Dead Than Red". A name reservation has been requested, but for now, this is a garden name. "Bad Bud's White" (another unregistered seedling) is one of the parents in this cross. The seedling came about looking for something that was a bit "maroon and gold", the Minnesota State Universities' color-scheme. Tetraploid. Definitely northern hardy here in the border between 3b and 4b. In 2022, 28" height, 4.5" bloom. Fertile. Showed a tendency to have blemishes, we'll see if that continues once the plant settles in. Noticed very interesting "diamond dusting" of sorts in darker areas of the petals.
