Daylily (Hemerocallis) cf. Hyperion
So, this is a very old daylily. By my estimate, it was probably in the ground for 20 years before it was gifted to me. Unfortunately, it came without an ID. Early blooms in 2022 were on short scapes, much more concentrated lemon yellow coloration, but the bulk of the blooms came later, and were held on tall scapes. Nice-sized blooms, up to 7 inches. Measured one scape at nearly 40 inches (the camera cut it off, so I'm guessing). 99% sure it' s a diploid, as all our diploid crosses seemed to work. Definitely hardy in 4b. I purchased a known Hyperion to grow and compare, but the first year's blooms on the actual "Hyperion" did not match, although the plants were not mature. So, basically, a nice tall yellow that we did some breeding with in 2022, but an unknown plant for the time being.
